Crane’s Beach Gray Seal

Posted on May 21, 2017

This past week responded to another young gray seal, this time on Crane Beach in Ipswich, MA. We waited to share this seal, because she stuck around the area for 2 1/2 days. But we are happy to report that as we were considering where to relocate her because our rehabilitation facilities are full, she returned to the ocean on her own accord! This young gray seal did have multiple spots of alopecia (hair loss), which isn’t uncommon in gray seals, but other than that she looked pretty good overall! A special thank you goes out to the rangers at Crane Beach that helped keep an eye on her to be sure she was able to get the rest she needed.
