USLHS Lighthouse Passport

Seacoast Science Center is the perfect place to start the United States Lighthouse Society’s Lighthouse Passport Program because you can earn six stamps right here!

Additionally, SSC is the only year-round participant in New Hampshire and southern Maine.

From Odiorne Point State Park and SSC, you can view four lighthouses, including Portsmouth Harbor, White Island, Whaleback, and Boon Island, as well as the Wood Island Life Saving Station and a U.S. Life Saving Service Key Post. The Key Post, once located on Appledore Island, is on display in the Center, on loan from the Star Island Corporation.

A Passport with a Purpose

By participating in the USLHS Lighthouse Passport program, you can celebrate your passion for America’s lights and help fund their restoration.

  • You can join the United States Lighthouse Society (USLHS) and purchase your Lighthouse Passport Program Passport Book on USLHS’s website or you can purchase your Passport in SSC’s Nature Store when you visit.
  • SSC has created six unique stamp designs for your USLHS Passport book.
  • Lighthouse hunters are encouraged to donate $1 per stamp; stamp donations will be shared with Friends of Portsmouth Harbor Lighthhouses and Wood Island Life Saving Station Association.
  • USLHS Passport holders are granted free admission to SSC for the stamps; admission applies if you stay for a visit. A separate admission fee applies for entry to Odiorne Point State Park.
