About Treks
Whether your little trekker is ready for adventure or is a bit shy, our Treks program eases kids 4-5 years old into our nature-focused camp setting. Children gain confidence through play-based activities and guided exploration that follows their curiosity. Campers develop a new understanding and appreciation of the natural world around them by exploring Odiorne Point State Park, and all the Center has to offer.
Daily Themes
Monday, December 21: Lobsteriffic!
Come meet an American Lobster live and in person. We’ll investigate the amazing adaptations of this cool crustacean, and hear about how lobstering is an important part of the seacoast fishing industry. Outside, we’ll play fun games such as ‘Catch the Lobster’!
Tuesday, December 22: Giants of the Sea
Who are the heavyweights of the sea? From the blue whale to the giant squid, discover what these, and other massive ocean creatures need to survive, and how we can help protect them. Out in the Park, let’s build a ‘Snow Whale’ or use materials collected along the shoreline to design your own ‘Giant of the Sea.’
Wednesday, December 23: Winter Snoozers
Join us as we investigate the mysteries of hibernation, and learn what local animals are snoozing the winter away. On a winter hike, we’ll identify what nooks and crannies might be the winter den of a hibernating animal, and enjoy the wintry landscape in Odiorne Point State Park as we explore.
Monday, December 28: Winter Wildlife Walk
We’ll head out into the park to look for animals that remain active throughout the winter season. Learn how to identify animals by their tracks and scat, and discover what birds are still flying about. Inside, we’ll warm up by visiting the Center’s exhibits, and playing fun games.
Tuesday, December 29: Turtley Awesome!
Sea turtles are amazing creatures adapted to life at sea. We’ll investigate the different turtle species that call the ocean their home, and compare these turtles to land turtles, such as our box turtle, Raspberry. Plus, design a cool turtle craft to take home!
Wednesday, December 30: Ocean Protectors
Come learn what you can do to help keep our one world ocean clean and healthy. Join us for a walk along the shoreline to collect items washed up by winter storms and use these items to create a recycled work of art. We’ll also visit our ‘Restoring Reefs’ exhibit, and learn about the challenges these fragile ecosystems face.
Thursday, December 31: Winter Wonderland Scavenger Hunt
Feathers, pine cones, and squirrel nests, oh my! Head out into different habitats of the park on a winter scavenger hike as we hunt for a variety of natural items. Discover how these items fit into the landscape of nature, and design your own unique winter craft. Time to sharpen your winter senses!

Please be aware that CampBrain requires that you create a personal account within it that is separate from your membership account.

What to Bring & Other Important Information
Children should always come prepared with layers of warm outdoor clothing and boots. Please label all of your child’s belongings. We go outdoors, rain or shine, but focus on indoor activities during inclement weather. Please pack a peanut/tree nut-free lunch and snacks that do not require refrigeration.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations that are made prior to two weeks before your child’s first day of camp begins will receive a 50% refund. No refunds will be given after that time.
Camp Scholarship Fund
The Center has created a Camp Scholarship Fund to offer financial assistance to those otherwise unable to attend. We encourage your support of this fund; please donate now.
