Meet Jim Brown, Director of Major Gifts

Posted on August 15, 2018

Jim Brown joined our crew in July as the Center’s first Major Gifts officer and is responsible for the Seacoast Science Center’s major-gift fundraising and planned giving program.

Dear Friends,

Since moving to the Seacoast of New Hampshire more than 20 years ago, the Seacoast Science Center and Odiorne Point State Park have been mainstays of my family’s life. We have enjoyed the many wonders and simple pleasures for more than two decades: picnics on the shore, breathtaking views, and hikes along the trails. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed the Center’s exhibits and have attended the Music by the Sea concerts, Sippin’ For Seals and other events. Recently our family hosted a wedding at the Seacoast Science Center—it was a picture-perfect summer evening. The Center continues to educate, entertain, inspire and amaze. Together, the Center and Park have been sources of great joy and fond memories. We are so lucky to have this local treasure. Our community is richer for it.

My association with the Science Center has also involved many years of volunteer service. My professional background is founded in the financial services sector helping individuals, families, companies and nonprofit organizations with financial, investment, retirement and estate planning. Now I am taking my skill set in a new direction. Joining the Seacoast Science Center’s team as the Director of Major Gifts affords me the opportunity to help the Center stay on its important course of providing vital education about our ocean as well as assist the organization in enhancing and growing its exhibits and programs. Our community has been enriched by the Center during its 26-year history and we are thoroughly committed to delivering the best possible experience for all for years to come.

Our vast blue ocean is life sustaining and in a very real way drives our daily lives. I am so grateful to have a part in advancing our mission to inspire conservation of our Blue Planet. I look forward to working with each and every volunteer, staff member and Board member alike. I am honored to be representing the Seacoast Science Center in our wonderful community and invite you to reach out to me to discuss giving options at any time.

Sincerely, Jim Brown
