Whales feeding in front of SSC!

Posted on October 11, 2017

It’s not everyday that you can whale and seal watch from your office! In fact, none of the staff here at the Seacoast Science Center can ever remember seeing a whale just outside our windows, let alone two whales!

This morning we were greeted by a humpback whale, a suspected minke whale, as well as a handful of seals, terns, and gannets. All of these animals were feeding on pogies about 100-150 yards off shore! The humpback whale is confirmed to be a different individual from whales seen in Salisbury and Seabrook a couple weeks back.
