Posted on September 20, 2016

Today three Marine Mammal Rescue Team staff members went out on the water with members of the NH Department of Environmental Services, Coast Guard, and a number of contractors, for the annual Great Bay Strategy Oil Boom Deployment Exercise. This exercise is run each fall, to practice the implementation of putting out booms in the event of an oil spill, to protect the Bay.

The partners review the map showing where sections of boom will be deployed.

There are four barges strategically anchored in Great Bay and Little Bay, at the ready in the event of an oil spill.
