Fostering Community and Lifelong Learning Opportunities
At Seacoast Science Center, our ongoing mission is to cultivate community and create a hub for learning, conservation, and recreation focused on coastal science. Through our Science & Stories program, we aim to engage the community with lifelong learning opportunities that deepen their understanding of various subjects, such as:
- Local history and wildlife
- The dynamic Gulf of Maine
- Coastal ecology and resilience
- Climate impact and action
- Citizen and community science
- And, other topics we haven’t thought of yet!

*Unless otherwise noted, this series is offered for a suggested donation to support our educational programs, as lifelong learning is essential to our mission of inspiring the conservation and stewardship of our Blue Planet.

The podcast by NH Sea Grant that explores the science, stories, and people behind our changing coastlines moves from the studio to the stage at Seacoast Science Center.

Climate Change in the Gulf of Maine
Speaker: Conservation Law Foundation–Jennifer Felt (Ocean Campaign Director) and Gareth Lawson (Senior Scientist)
Our institutional partners at The Conservation Law Foundation, have spearheaded significant discussions on climate change in the Gulf of Maine. Their presentation and discussion will highlight their decades-long efforts at Cashes Ledge, a biodiverse underwater mountain range located approximately 90 miles off the New England coast, along with its recognition as a Hope Spot – special marine areas deemed critical to ocean health – and its nomination and potential designation as a National Marine Sanctuary.

Collaboration for Coastal Adaptation

The Lab is a unique partnership focused on researching, piloting, and teaching about nature-based approaches for coastal adaptation. Their work emphasizes collaboration between scientists and the community, from tracking storm flooding, monitoring restoration projects, and piloting North America’s first Living Seawalls!
