About Treks

Treks 4 Tots Camp is a fun-filled learning adventure that takes advantage of the natural classroom just outside our doors in historic, 135-acre Odiorne Point State Park. The Center’s hands-on exhibits help to reinforce what campers learn outdoors. Lessons, activities, art projects, games, and stories combine for a full day of learning, excitement and fun!

Daily Themes

Monday, February 17 & 24: Coral Reef Rescue

Join us as we dive into our new Restoring Reefs exhibit to learn about this important habitat. We’ll learn about the amazing assortment of ocean life that relies on this special ecosystem for survival and discuss what is being done to protect coral reefs. We’ll also design a cool reef craft to take home at the end of the day.

Tuesday, February 18 & 25: Beach Detectives

Today, we’ll explore our new NH Beaches exhibit, which features a 12’ wave action tank and a sandy beach learning station. We’ll get hands-on with creatures that live along the shore and play a fun game to learn about beach pollution. Outside, we’ll explore the winter beach to see what we can find and learn what we can do to keep our beaches and the ocean clean.

Wednesday, February 19 & 26: Sharks and Ocean Predators

Sharks are truly amazing ocean predators, with a host of cool adaptations for detecting and catching their prey. We’ll examine these adaptations in depth and learn about shark conservation worldwide. How are the world’s shark populations holding up? Come find out, touch a live chain catshark, and learn about other amazing ocean predators, like the giant squid.

Thursday, February 20 & 27: Winter Wildlife Walk

Discover the winter wonderland of Odiorne as we explore the woods and search for signs of wildlife. We’ll be nature detectives, identifying tracks and scat, and looking for owl pellets, deer rubbings, and more. We’ll build observation forts and quietly observe nature to see what is out and about, and make bird feeders for our feathered friends.

Friday, February 21 & 28: Sea Turtles and Sea Snakes

Join us as we learn about the fascinating reptiles that live in the ocean and the special adaptations they need for survival in the salty sea. We’ll view some cool videos of animals in action and then head outdoors to build a leatherback snow turtle. Take home a colorful sea snake craft!
