Monday, December 28: Winter Woods Wildlife Walk
Discover the Winter Wonderland of Odiorne as we explore the woods and search for signs of wildlife. We’ll be nature detectives, identifying tracks and scat, searching for owl pellets, deer rubbings, and more. We’ll build observation forts from which we’ll quietly observe nature to see what is out and about in the winter woods.
Tuesday, December 29: Shoreline Searchin’
Come on a search of the winter shoreline to see what treasures have washed ashore. We’ll learn about wave action, how tides work, and discuss ways we can keep our shoreline clean. Peek under seaweed to discover what may be hiding there!
Wednesday, December 30: Seacoast History is Happening!
We’ll take a hike around Odiorne Point State Park hunting for historical landmarks, such as old house foundations, WII structures, and other relics of the past. We’ll discuss the Native Americans that lived in the area long ago, and how they survived the winter. Wrap up the day with tales of seafaring pirates and their pursuit of treasure, up and down the Atlantic coast.
Thursday, December 31: Habitat Scavenger Hunt
Explore some of the many habitats of the Park, such as our freshwater pond and salt marsh, searching and learning about natural items that can only be found in these unique habitats. Will there be ice on the winter pond, or a blanket of snow on the salt marsh? Come find out!
