Time: 9:00 a.m.
Due to the COVID-19 crisis, this year’s run has been rescheduled for Sunday, October 4, 2020. If you have already registered, we hope you can still take part in supporting this event and are able to join us. The Rescue Run provides critical funding for our Marine Mammal Rescue program, helping us stay ready to protect and rescue animals in need, and educate our community about the importance of wildlife and ocean conservation. If you’re unable to attend, we ask that you please consider making your pre-paid registration fee a tax-deductible donation to Seacoast Science Center Marine Mammal Rescue. Contact Sara at [email protected] to learn more.
Thank you to all who participated in the 11th annual Rescue Run on April 20, 2019. You can find race results here.
About the Race
The Rescue Run: Race for Marine Mammals features a popular 5k chip-timed trail race and un-timed walk through Odiorne Point State Park. Our popular Race follows the 5k cross-country trail route created by Jennifer Shultis, captain of Team Eastern Mountain Sports, 2006 US Adventure Racing National Champions. You’ll run through the forest, by the rocky shore, across a sandy beach, and alongside historic military fortifications.
The first 175 registrants for the 5k receive a free official wick-wear race t-shirt. Race shirts will be available for purchase for $12 day-of, while supplies last. Prizes are awarded in age and gender categories from 6 to 60+, as well as overall fastest male and female for the 5k (must run in the <8 min. pace/mile to qualify for overall winner).
The Kids Fun Run features a 300 yard dash and a half mile run for children ages 12 and under. Every child that participates in the Fun Run wins a prize!
Following the race, enjoy a light runner’s breakfast, music, fun ocean-themed activities, and even a mock seal rescue for the kids!
Whether you plan to race, run or walk the 5k with a group of friends or your family, you can choose a team name and register as a team at a discounted price. Teams must have 5 or more participants. We encourage you to get creative with matching costumes and fanfare!
Please remember that dogs are not allowed in Odiorne Point State Park. Strollers are not permitted on the 5k trail. Children, age 12 and under, must be accompanied by an adult on the 5k.
Online registration is open through September 30th; day-of registration begins at 7:30am.

Sponsoring the Rescue Run: Race for Marine Mammals is an excellent way for your company to reach runners and conservation-minded families from across the region. To learn more, contact Nichole at [email protected] or 603-436-8043, ext. 26.
After the race, stay to join the Blue Ocean Society for a beach clean-up at 11:00am! We’ll comb the shore of Odiorne to collect and record data on trash we pick up and help keep our ocean healthy, ensuring it does not become marine debris.
