Stewards Summer Camp

Registration opens at 9am on January 15th for members; February 1 for non-members.

You must have a 6 Star or Family Membership valid through your chosen camp dates to take advantage of the member rate.

About Stewards

Stewards spend the day immersed in nature, learning about complex ecosystems, as well as how humans interact with and impact them. The goal of this program is to teach campers how to become responsible stewards of the natural environment through hands-on learning, interesting projects and engaging, productive outdoor activities.

SESSION A Eco-Trips I

Monday, June 26: Visit to UNH Marine Site and/or Aquaculture Site

Tuesday, June 27: Explore Fort Foster and Wood Island Lifesaving Station, with tide pool investigation Kittery, ME

Wednesday, June 28: Whale Watch Wednesday, Granite State Whale Watch, Rye Harbor, NH. 
Meet at Rye Harbor. Time: 8am drop-off, 1pm pick-up

Thursday, June 29: Perkins Cove Lobster Boat Tour and Marginal Way Tide Pooling, Ogunquit, ME

Friday, June 30: Star Island, Isles of Shoals. Drop off and pick up Rye Harbor, exact times TBD

Monday, July 10: Visit to UNH Marine Site and/or Aquaculture Site

Tuesday, July 11: Exploration of Wells National Estuarine Reserve with lab tour, Wells, ME

Friday, July 14: Parker River Wildlife Refuge, Plum Island, MA with an Ecology Program with Audubon

SESSION C Coastal Kayaking

Come paddle NH’s coastal waters with us as we investigate the flora and fauna in and around our estuarine waters. Monday and Tuesday are suitable for new or less experienced paddlers, while Wednesday through Friday will be geared for campers with more kayaking experience. All equipment will be provided.

SESSION D Coastal Investigations with the Gundalow Company

SSC campers will join campers from the Gundalow Company and spend three days exploring the tide pools and sandy beach of Odiorne Point State Park, and two days at Creek Farm, with trips aboard the Gundalow, PISCATAQUA. Campers will explore topics including invasive species, plankton sampling, water quality and oyster restoration, and enjoy other hands-on activities. Drop off and pick up times may vary this week.

SESSION E Eco-Sport Week

This week we will combine ecological beach investigations and stewardship activities including invasive species monitoring, water quality testing, plankton sampling, and beach clean-ups with fun sporty activities such as surfing, stand up paddle-boarding and snorkeling! All equipment and lessons will be provided.

No pre-care or after-care is available for by-the-day field trips.

To register online, click the button below, which will take you to our easy-to-use registration software, CampBrain. If you registered for camp via CampBrain in the past, your email address will be recognized. If not, you will be prompted to set up a new account.

Confirmation, Medical Health Forms, Camper Guidelines, and other required forms

You will receive a confirmation email for your registration. Medical Health forms are now to be filled out and saved in your personal CampBrain (our new camp registration software) account. You will find information on camper guidelines and other required forms in CampBrain, or you can access them here for reference

What to Bring & Other Important Information

Children should always come prepared with layers of warm outdoor clothing and boots. Please label all of your child’s belongings. We go outdoors, rain or shine, but focus on indoor activities during inclement weather. Please pack a peanut/tree nut-free lunch and snacks that do not require refrigeration.

Become a Member

Members of the Center are entitled to reduced camp prices and early summer camp registration. Membership must be active through the date for which you are registering to be eligible for the discount. Click here to learn more about all the great member benefits, and join or renew your membership.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations that are made prior to two weeks before your child’s first day of camp begins will receive a 50% refund. No refunds will be given after that time.

Camp Scholarship Fund

The Center has created a Camp Scholarship Fund to offer financial assistance to those otherwise unable to attend. We encourage your support of this fund; please donate now
