This morning we responded to our first dolphin of the year. This deceased adult male Common Dolphin was spotted by construction workers building a sea wall, at Plaice Cove in Hampton. It’s hard to say what led to his demise, because externally he looked good overall. But because of the location, steep rocky terrain, and weight of the animal, collecting him for necropsy was not feasible. But we did collect a full set of data/measurements and photos before the large surf washed him back out.
