A self-paced activity handbook that takes families on a journey of discovery through Odiorne Point State Park and the Seacoast Science Center.
Our new Blue Steward Badge Program Handbook offers a fun, tangible way for families to learn about our natural environment together. The activity handbook guides exploration and learning throughout the Seacoast Science Center and Odiorne Point State Park. It emphasizes coastal habitats, ocean life, interconnectedness of systems, and ways that ocean health affects human health. It is designed to educate to motivate, and is full of inquiry and action prompts that encourage learners to dig deeper.
The goal of the Blue Steward Badge Program is to inspire exploratory, hands-on learning that raises awareness and inspires stewardship—protection and care for our ocean.
The program is part of our #HealthyOceanOrBust initiative, where we are encouraging community members to take action to help save the ocean and share what they doing on social media. The handbook offers easy ways for you to join the Healthy Ocean or Bust movement!
Stamps are earned as you complete each of the 22 activities in the Blue Steward Badge Program Handbook and you are awarded a Blue Steward embroidered patch upon the program’s completion. All of the activities, which are geared toward elementary school children, typically take two visits to complete*.
The Blue Steward Badge Program Handbook is available for $5 at the Center’s Nature Store and comes with a complimentary Blue Steward wristband. Additional wristbands are available for $1.
