Join the Seacoast Science Center and Newburyport Whale Watch for a special river cruise to benefit the Center’s Marine Mammal Rescue program. We’ll search for seals, enjoy the sunset, and learn about our Marine Mammal Rescue Team’s work.
Date: Saturday, September 22, 2018
Thank you to everyone who came out to support us on the Save the Seals River Cruise in 2017. For photographs of the event, visit our Marine Mammal Rescue Facebook page.
Join SSC and Newburyport Whale Watch for a special river cruise and silent auction to benefit Seacoast Science Center Marine Mammal Rescue. While cruising the Merrimack River aboard the Captain’s Lady II, we’ll enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar while searching for seals, enjoying sunset, and having a blast. Marine Mammal Rescue team members will explain how their work on the New Hampshire and Northern Massachusetts (from Essex, MA to the Maine border) coast plays an important role in monitoring ocean health. They will also share NOAA’s latest findings regarding the recently declared “unusual mortality event” for harbor and grey seals in the region.
All proceeds from the Save the Seals River Cruise benefit the Seacoast Science Center Marine Mammal Rescue Program. The seals can’t pay to be rescued, so we rely on our community to help keep our Team ready to respond to every marine mammal that hauls out or strands on the New Hampshire and Northern Massachusetts coast.
Don’t forget, your participation in the silent auction aboard our cruise supports our Marine Mammal Rescue Program too! Please check back for updates on auction items. You won’t want to miss out!
Online ticket sales close Friday, September 14 at 5pm, but space is still available! Meet us at the dock and join the cruise!
Please note that actual tickets will not be mailed; your name will be included on the list of registered guests when you arrive. The boat will leave from 54 Merrimac Street, Newburyport, MA. Parking is available for a small fee.
You must be 21 or over to attend.
Special thanks go to 2018 event sponsors Blue Ocean Event Center, Brayton Energy, and Newburyport Whale Watch.
