Little Fish, bring your older siblings along for a special day of family tide pooling and science exploration!
Date: Friday, December 29, 2017
Big Fish Little Fish is a weekly program for children ages 3-5, held Fridays, 9:30-10:30am, where kids and their favorite adults actively explore and learn about the habitats of Odiorne Point State Park together. Adventures are designed to inspire curiosity and a sense of wonder, and to empower and build a child’s confidence as a young scientist and naturalist.
Today, we’re inviting Little Fish to bring their older brothers and sisters along for a special day of learning fun!
After singing our good morning song, we’ll make a breakfast salad for Raspberry the Box Turtle so we can check back at the end of our class to see what he chose to eat, or not eat, today.
Older siblings meet with SSC naturalists to learn about the scientific tools we’ll use for our investigations today, and then we’ll head to the Drowned Forest to observe a tide pool. Each family will the opportunity to make drawings, and take notes and measurements of their observations. Then, we’ll head back to SSC to wrap-up our morning by putting together an journal of everyone’s observations.
Please be sure to come dressed for outdoor exploration. We will focus on indoor activities in the event of inclement weather.
