Join us on Thursday, November 2 when Kate Sardi will describe how her team responds to reports of stranded seals, dolphins, whales and sea turtles throughout Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Kate has been working with stranded marine mammals for 10 years. Her engaging presentation will introduce you to the species of marine mammals and sea turtles found in New England waters and discuss the reasons that they come up on shore.
Scientists' ultimate goal in stranding response is to learn about the biology and habitat use of these animals, to conserve endangered or threatened species and to educate members of the community about the animals that share their shores. Kate will also discuss why and how the Aquarium Team responds, as well as give examples of the important information that we can learn from stranding events.
The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a reception (the Nature Store will be open at 5:30). Dinner and presentation follow. All proceeds support the Center. Space is available on a first-come first-served basis and dinners tend to sell out early. Tickets are $45/person; all are welcome, members at the Family Plus level and Annual Giving Society members will receive invitations in the mail. Reserve your seats now by contacting Ashley at 603-436-8043 ext. 20 or info@seacentr.org.
